"In addition to the conference “Yuri Butusov: Memory. Traces. Continuity,” the audience is invited into a space dedicated to the director’s memory, where the documentary film “Yuri Butusov and Other Tales,” coordinated by Iulia Colan, will be presented. The project is built from testimonies and footage captured during rehearsals for “The Winter’s Tale” by William Shakespeare, which was scheduled to premiere at the Marin Sorescu National Theatre in Craiova.
The film brings together fragments of the creative process, along with observations and reflections from those involved in this artistic encounter, outlining not only a working journey but also the relationship between a director and his team, in a moment suspended in time.
The screening will take place in the Purple Room, where the space will be recreated using set elements from the production, extending the film experience into an immersive environment. The film will run on a loop, with short breaks between screenings, allowing audience access throughout the festival.
The documentary aims to preserve the memory of this artistic encounter and carry forward the traces left by this process.
About this initiative, Iulia Colan states:
“I turned the video footage from the two and a half weeks we spent together into a documentary film, because Yuri Butusov's presence here and our work together deserve not to be forgotten.”
